I love music.
I love how in an instant, it can spark a particular emotion
or a distant memory. In
fact, one of the earliest, most vivid memories I can think of was
when I was a child and I had broken my arm.
Later that day, I heard Steve Miller’s song “Fly Like An
Eagle” on the radio. At
that point, I didn’t care that I had broken my arm, nor did I have
any other care in the world. I
just listened to the song, jumping around my living room, pretending
that I could fly like an eagle.
It's silly, but true. And to this day, whenever I hear that song that is what I think
of.
It is my love of all types of
music that pushed me to pursue a career in radio.
After graduating from
Mason
High School
, I went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts degree in Advertising from
Michigan
State
University
. I worked in the field
for a while and then I began to realize that something was missing
– the music!
I decided to start over and redirect myself
towards radio. I began
by taking classes at
Lansing
Community College
in the Media Technology program.
Shortly afterwards, I found myself working at various
Lansing
area radio stations and of course at 89.7FM, WLNZ.
In the years that I have been at WLNZ, as the Assistant Program
Director/Production Manager, I would have to say my favorite part is
working with the students. I
love having the opportunity to teach them the knowledge that I have
learned myself. And I
love the fact that from time to time, I learn a thing or two from
them as well.
Beyond
WLNZ, you can still hear me on the airwaves on other
Lansing
radio stations, and deejaying at local nightclubs and weddings.
It’s a busy schedule, but what can I say - the music just
keeps calling me!
Join Daedalian for the Bag of Blues program on Friday nights
at 11:00pm on WLNZ.
