Tutoring Services

• Tutoring is available to LCC students, at no charge, on a first-come, first-served basis, in most introductory courses. Tutoring in other levels of LCC courses may also be available.

• Statistics show that of those students receiving tutoring, approximately 60% receive a grade of 2.0 or above in their courses, and 70% have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or greater.

• Our staff is made up of both peer tutors (students) and part-time faculty tutor techs. The staff, as a whole, has more than 100 years of tutoring experience.

• Tutors are available in most subject areas and assist students through individual appointments, scheduled walk-in appointments and study groups.

• Students work with tutors to develop course competencies and study skills such as time management, test preparation and note taking.

• Handouts on study tips are available in the Tutoring Services office, and on the web site, http://www.lcc.edu/tutorial/study_tips/index.htm

• Applications to request a tutor are taken throughout the semester. Students are encouraged to apply early because appointments fill quickly.
