TRANSFER INFORMATION GUIDE
The following Michigan universities offer bachelor degree programs in Social
Work or Human Services. Below are some of the pre-admission requirements.
Central Michigan University - Bachelor in Social Work (See guide)

Lake Superior State University - BS in Human Service
1. Student must earn final 32 semester credits at LSSU.
2. Three complementary minors rather than a conventional major and minor.
3. Selecting a minor in Social Work qualifies a student to apply for
certification as a Social Work Technician with the state of Michigan.

Northern Michigan University - Bachelor in Social Work (BSW)
1. Transfer credits accepted: 64/academic credits and 4/Phys Ed credits
2. Students should complete the following LCC courses:

b. Meet requirements as listed in the NMU Bulletin.

Saginaw Valley State University - Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) (See guide)

Western Michigan University - Bachelor of Social Work (BSW)
1. Maximum number of transfer credits - 61 semester credits. Beginning
Fall 2004, a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 will be required for
admission consideration.
2. Students should complete the following LCC courses:
a. General education requirements (see separate transfer guide).
b. BIOL 121; ECON 201; HUSE 100; POLS 120; PSYC 200; SPCH 130;
SOCL 120; SOWK 205.
c. A maximum of 6 semester credits of social work courses apply as
direct equivalents. Remaining social work credits apply as electives.
3. Admission requires a separate application. Application deadlines are
January 15, October 1, and May 15 of each year. Apply early in the
second year. Applications will be evaluated on the basis of:
a. Academic ability, work, volunteer work, and life experiences.
b. Personal maturity and motivation for human service work.
c. Complete HUSE 100 (SWRK 210-WMU) before applying to program.
