                     CRIMINAL JUSTICE TRANSFER INFORMATION GUIDE

SPECIAL INFORMATION FOR PROSPECTIVE TRANSFER STUDENTS: 
  (THIS GUIDE IS TO BE USED IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE CJ TRANSFER GUIDES.)
                               
Central Michigan University
  1.  Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree with a Sociology major, 
      and a concentration in Criminal Justice.
  2.  Students are encouraged to complete all requirements for the MACRAO 
      Agreement (See guide titled "MACRAO Transfer Agreement") plus the CMU 
      competencies in speech (SPCH 120/130) and mathematics (MATH 112 or above 
      except 114-117).
  3.  Additional LCC courses which should be completed before transferring to 
      CMU: SOCL 120,255; CJUS 101,106,107.

Eastern Michigan University - Criminology and Criminal Justice major
  1.  Students should complete course work to meet the EMU Basic Studies
      Requirements (see separate guide).  See the EMU Criminal Justice guide for
      newly approved CM equivalencies.
  Information related to the transferability of Criminal Justice courses from 
  LCC should be requested from Dr. Jay Weinstein, Department of Sociology, 
  Anthropology and Criminology,  Eastern Michigan University, (734) 487-0012.

Grand Valley State University - Criminal Justice major
  1.  Bachelor of Science degrees offered in:  Criminal Justice.
  2.  Students who complete the MACRAO Transfer Agreement requirements and an
      associate degree qualify for exemption from GVSU Foundation Requirements.
  3.  Only four courses transfer as specific credit in the GVSU School of 
      Criminal Justice.  Check with GVSU Office of Admissions.
  4.  Students must demonstrate proficiency in mathematics and proficiency in
      English composition.  Lansing Community College courses which satisfy the
      math requirement are:  MATH 112,121,122,126,151,152,253. Lansing Community
      College courses which satisfy the English requirement are:  
      WRIT 121,122,131,132; ENGL 122,132.

Lake Superior State University
  1.  B.S. degree programs are offered in the fields of Criminal Justice-Law
      Enforcement, Corrections, Loss Control, Criminalistics, Public Safety and
      Fire Science.
  2.  Students are encouraged to complete the general education requirements
      during their sophomore year, instead of other recommended electives.
  3.  Students enrolled in criminalistics, law enforcement, or public safety may
      be eligible for Michigan Commission of Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES)
      certification.
  4.  MCOLES Mini-Academy:  Students enrolled in the MCOLES track will have to
      complete a seven week mini-academy which is held after the end of the 
      academic year.  Contained within the mini-academy are students who are
      enrolled in the MCOLES track at the beginning of their senior year.  The 
      length of the mini-academy is subject to change without notice.

Northern Michigan University
  1.  Criminal Justice Degree
  2.  Students are encouraged to complete the general education requirements
      during their sophomore year instead of other electives.
  3.  Students must have an overall GPA of 2.25 and a 2.0 or better in all 
      criminal justice courses.

Western Michigan University
  1.  Participation in the Criminal Justice Program at WMU provides the student
      with a well-rounded theoretical and practical education upon which to 
      build professional careers in law enforcement, courts, research and 
      graduate study.  Law enforcement certification is available.  Course 
      suggestions include:  CJUS 101 and SOCL 120.
