1. This transfer guide supports an Articulation (partnership) Agreement between
Lansing Community College (LCC) and Eastern Michigan University (EMU),
facilitating the transfer of LCC credits toward completion of a Bachelor of
Science Degree in Information Assurance at EMU. This guide includes courses
from the LCC Computer Networking and Information Security curriculum guide,
allowing students to simultaneously earn an LCC Associate in Business degree
while preparing to transfer to Eastern Michigan University. The agreement is
    in currently under review.
2. See the MACRAO Transfer Agreement guide for appropriate LCC course options.
HUMS 214 is required for the LCC curriculum; meets EMU's Global Awareness/
US Diversity requirement; and with HUMS 213, will fulfill the MACRAO
    Humanities requirement.
3. Only courses with a grade of a 2.0 or better will be accepted for transfer to
EMU.  Only courses in which at least a 2.0 is received will be applied to
    MACRAO by LCC.
4. In completing the coordinated program of study, substitutions and electives
should be made with the guidance of the EMU and HFCC Program Advisors to
assure that program and graduation requirements will be satisfied at each
5. Students whose transcript are endorsed as "MACRAO Satisfied" by LCC will be
required to meet the three EMU's three general education requirements listed
below. These requirements may be completed before or after admission to EMU:
    a. an approved course in Quantitative Reasoning: MATH 121/STAT 215 at LCC
    b. an approved course in Perspectives on a Diverse World: HUMS 214 at LCC
    c. a Learning Beyond the Classroom (LBC) course/experience offered by EMU.
To use MACRAO, students should request a MACRAO evaluation of their
transcript at the LCC Academic Advising Center. Students who do not satisfy
MACRAO will have to complete EMU General Education Requirements.
6. Under this agreement, EMU will waive the 60-hour rule and require that a
minimum of 30 credit hours must be completed in EMU courses, 15 hours of
which must be major/program requirements at the 300-level or above. Although
36 to 39 credit hours are listed on the guide as EMU credits, it may be
possible to transfer additional courses from LCC or another college, if
approved by the Program Coordinator, and if the minimum of 30 credits in EMU
courses is satisfied. A minimum of 124 credit hours, completed in-residence
or accepted in transfer, is required for graduation.
7. Students must meet all admission requirements at the time of admission to
EMU, including submitting transcripts from all previously attended colleges.
8. Students are encouraged to meet with the EMU Information Assurance Adviser
early, before completing an admission application to EMU.
9. Students may substitute with WRIT 131 and 132.
10. Students seeking an LCC associate degree must fulfill specific graduation
requirements. See the LCC Catalog for details.
11. This transfer guide requires basic skill levels in mathematics, reading, and
writing. To determine accurate course placement, students should take the
Computerized Placement Tests in the LCC Assessment Center (GB 200) prior to
registration. For testing hours call (517) 267-5500.
