NOTES:
1. This transfer guide represents a 3+1 articulation (partnership) agreement
   between Lansing Community College (LCC) and Lake Superior State University
   (LSSU).  Any student who has earned an associate degree in Applied Science in
   Fire Science Technology at LCC and has completed the MACRAO Transfer Agreement
   may transfer the identified credits toward a Bachelor of Science in Fire 
   Science at LSSU. A maximum of 90 LCC credits can be transferred to LSSU toward
   the completion of the bachelor degree. All LSSU courses will be offered at the
   LCC campus.
2. To be admitted to this program at LSSU, students must have an associate 
   degree (or be working toward one) and have completed a minimum of 64 credits
   from LCC or any accredited college or university.  Transfer students must 
   possess a minimum of a 2.0 cumulative GPA.  Official transcripts from all
   accredited colleges/universities must be submitted with the completed LSSU
   application form.
3. When selecting courses to complete the LCC General Education Core requirements
   students should select courses that will simultaneously apply toward the 
   MACRAO Transfer Agreement requirements.  Options are listed below:
   a. Communication Core - select 4 credits from:  FREN/GRMN/JAPN 121 or THEA 110
      (all also satisfy a portion of the MACRAO Humanities requirements).
   b. Global Perspectives and Diversity - select 4 credits from:  ENGL 211,212;
      HUMS 160,211,212,213,214; MUSC 240,241; PHIL 211,212 (all also satisfy a 
      portion of the MACRAO Humanities requirement); or ECON 120,260; GEOG 200;
      POLS 260,270; SOCL 120,260 (all also satisfy a portion of the MACRAO
      Social Science requirement).
   c. Mathematics - select 4 credits from:  MATH 118,119,121,122,126,130,141,151,
      152,201,202.
   d. Science - fulfilled by taking CHEM 135
   e. Writing - fulfilled by taking WRIT 121
4. By carefully selecting courses used to complete the LCC Core requirements,
   students will have fulfilled a portion of the MACRAO Transfer Agreement. 
   Options are listed below:
   a. English Composition - select 4 credits from:  ENGL 122 or WRIT 122
   b. Science and Math - fulfilled by completing CHEM 135 and one MATH course
      listed in Note 3c above.
   c. Social Science - select 4-8 credits (depending on selections chosen to 
      complete the LCC Global Perspective and Diversity Core) from the list of
      MACRAO Social Science courses at http://www.lcc.edu/transfer/guides/
      current/11123.html. 
   d. Humanities - select 0-4 credits (depending on selections chosen to complete
      the LCC Communication and Global Perspective & Diversity Core areas) from 
      the list of MACRAO Humanities courses included on http://www.lcc.edu/
      transfer/guides/current/11123.html. 
5. This transfer guide requires basic skill levels in mathematics, reading, and 
   writing.  To determine accurate course placement, students should take the 
   Computerized Placement Tests in the LCC Assessment Center (GB 200) prior to
   registration.  For testing hours call (517) 267-5500.
 
Lake Superior State University fire science faculty will be on the LCC campus to
provide additional information throughout the year.  For further information and 
advising, students should call (906) 635-2384 to reach the School of Criminal 
Justice and Fire Science at LSSU to speak with an LSSU advisor or request an 
application to the LSSU Fire Science Program.
