who attended any college or university prior to Fall 2007 and wish to elect the 
new EMU General Education Requirements.  Additional information is available at

Students who have earned an ACT Math sub score of 28 or higher, or an SAT Math
sub score of 670 or higher may waive this requirement.

AREA V:  Learning Beyond the Classroom (1-2 areas)
Students who have completed MACRAO or have 30 or more transferable credits are 
required to complete only one of six areas; however, this requirements MUST be 
completed at EMU.  For students who transfer fewer than 30 hours (or who have 
not completed MACRAO), one of six area can be completed at the community 
college, and the second area MUST be completed at EMU.

NOTES:
1. A single course can be used to meet only one general education requirement.
2. With the exception of Learning Beyond the Classroom, a student must earn a 
   minimum of two (2) credit hours in a course to be used to meet EMU's General 
   Education Requirements.
3. Students must earn a minimum of a 2.0 in order for a course to be eligible 
   for transfer credit.  Courses below 100-level do not transfer to EMU.
4. The major or minor declared by a student may encourage specific general 
   education courses.  If one is available, refer to the transfer guide for the 
   selected major.
5. There is no limit to the number of credits that may be transferred to EMU.  
   However, a minimum of 60 credits must be completed at a four-year school, 
   with a minimum of 30 credits being earned at EMU.
6. EMU honors the MACRAO Transfer Agreement.  Student who have the MACRAO stamp
   from LCC will have met most of the EMU general education requirements and 
   will only be required to fulfill the following three areas if they were not 
   fulfilled within MACRAO:
   a. A quantitative reasoning courses (Area II) which may be transferred.
   b. One Perspectives on a Diverse World course in U.S. Diversity or Global
      Awareness (Area III) which may be transferred.
   c. One Learning Beyond the Classroom experience or course (Area V) to be 
      completed at EMU.
7. Students who have not competed the MACRAO Agreement but have completed 30 or 
   more transferable credits will be required to satisfy all of the EMU General
   Education Requirements with the following adjustments:
   a. A quantitative reasoning course (Area II) which may be transferred.
   b. One course in U.S. Diversity or Global Awareness (Area III) which may be 
      transferred.
   c. One Learning Beyond the Classroom experience or course (Area V) to be 
      completed at EMU.
8. Students who have completed less than 30 transferable credits will be 
   required to satisfy all of the EMU General Education Requirements.
