NOTES:
1. See the MACRAO Transfer Agreement guide for appropriate LCC courses.
LCC courses other than those appearing on this guide should be checked for
transferability to the four-year institution.
2. Two semester credits of health and well-being courses are required for
graduation from WMU. Select from PFFT 114 or PFHW 163 unless the MACRAO
Transfer Agreement has been satisfied.
3. Electives should be appropriate to the teaching minor in an academic subject
taught in elementary schools. See WMU catalog or contact the WMU College of
Education Advising Office listed below for assistance with minor choice. A
science/mathematics minor is required.
4. Selection for Elementary or Secondary Education:
a. Complete and submit all required materials for admission to the WMU
Admissions Office well in advance.
b. Achieve acceptable scores on the Michigan Test for Teacher Certification
(MTTC) Basic Skills section. Attach scores to the College of Education
application. Contact the office listed below for test information and
dates.
c. Earn a minimum of 35 semester credits.
d. Complete all WMU Intellectual Skills Development requirements (see Note
5).
e. Complete PSYC 205 (ED 250 at WMU) with a 2.0 or better. Students may
choose to substitute PSYC 221 and 222 for the PSYC 205 requirement.
f. All of the above requirements must be met to apply to the upper professional
level.
5. WMU requires all students to satisfactorily complete an Intellectual Skills
Development Program and a computer literacy course. LCC courses which meet
the Intellectual Skills requirements are: Writing: WRIT 121; Reading:
Satisfactory completion of 26 semester credits of transferable credits, or
the completion of ED 104 at WMU, or exemption based upon a standardized
reading test at WMU; and Quantification: MATH 107. The Computer Literacy
requirement is met for Elementary Group minors by completion of the
Science/Mathematics minor.
6. EDUC 226 and 228 are only to be taken by students who have been accepted to
WMU's upper professional level in the College of Education.
7. Students seeking an LCC associate degree must fulfill specific graduations
requirements including the LCC general education core requirements. See the
LCC catalog at http://www.lcc.edu/catalog for additional details.
8. This transfer guide requires basic skill levels in mathematics, reading, and
writing. To determine accurate course placement, students should take the
Computerized Placement Tests in the LCC Assessment Center (GVT 2100) prior to
