NOTES:
1. This transfer guide represents an articulation agreement between Lansing
Community College (LCC) and Spring Arbor University (SAU) that facilitates
the transfer of LCC students to the SAU Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary
Education. A maximum of 68 community college credits will be accepted at SAU.
Completion of the degree requires a minor in Education plus Option 1 - two
minors OR Option 2 - one major in selected subject areas (see Note 5).
2. SAU is a signatory member of the Michigan Association of Collegiate
Registrars and Admissions Officers (MACRAO) Transfer Agreement. To fulfill
SAU's general education requirements, students may elect to complete the
MACRAO Transfer Agreement guide, or may choose to complete the general
education courses designated on this transfer guide.
3. If a student chooses to complete the MACRAO Transfer Agreement, the
following additional courses may need to be taken to fulfill SAU's education
support course requirements for this degree: CPSC 120; HUMS 120; ISCI 121.
4. All transfer student must complete a writing skills proficiency examination.
Students who do not demonstrate satisfactory skills will be required to
complete English 304 at Spring Arbor University.
5. Option 1 - Complete two minors chosen from the following fields with a GPA
of 2.60 or better and no course grade below 2.0: English, Physical Education,
History, Integrated Science, Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies,
Spanish, and Speech. The minors that may be completed in the Lansing area are:
Integrated Science (courses at LCC with one independent study at SAU main
campus); Language Arts - (courses at LCC and SAU/Lansing); and Social Studies
(courses at LCC).
Option 2 - Complete one major chosen from the following fields: English,
Exercise and Sport Science, History, Language Arts, Mathematics, Social
Studies, Spanish, and Special Education (Learning Disabilities). A minimum
of nine semester hours of coursework in a major must be completed on the SAU
campus. The majors that may be completed in Lansing are: Language Arts,
Social Studies, and Special Education: Learning Disabilities.

6. The ZA (Early Childhood) endorsement may be added to an elementary teaching
certificate by completing the following courses at LCC: CHDV 101,184,185,
189,220. The following group of courses may be taken in place of CHDV 220:
CHDV 113,120,121,122. To complete the ZA endorsement, additional
courses must be taken at Spring Arbor University.
7. Students seeking an LCC associate degree must fulfill specific graduation
requirements including the LCC general education core requirements. See the

8. his transfer guide requires basic skill levels in mathematics, reading, and
writing. To determine accurate course placement, students should take the
Computerized Placement Tests in the LCC Assessment Center (GB 200) prior to
