NOTES:
At the time this guide was published, all community college agreements for
Occupational Education Studies (OES) were being updated by Western Michigan
University. Before planning transfer course work, LCC students should contact
adam.manley@wmich.edu at WMU for the most current information.
1. This transfer guide represents an articulation (partnership) agreement
that allows a student to complete a teacher education program with a major in
Automotive Body Repair (with Vocational Technology endorsement). The WMU
teaching major is satisfied at LCC by completing a minimum of 30 credits from
Choice 2 above. Taking at least 20 semester credits of WMU courses in an
appropriate secondary education minor will satisfy the teaching minor. Note:
The VT endorsement requires 4000 hours of recent and relevant work experience.
2. See the MACRAO Transfer Agreement guide for appropriate LCC courses.
The required PSYC courses satisfy a portion of the MACRAO social science
requirement.
3. Admission to the WMU teacher education program will include these
requirements:
a. 2.5 or higher grade point average.
b. Satisfactory completing of the State of Michigan Basic Skills Test
(mathematics, reading, communication).
c. PSYC 205 (LCC) or ED 250-Human Growth and Development at WMU
satisfactorily completed.
d. Completion of a LiveScan background check.
4. WMU requires all students to satisfactorily complete the Intellectual Skills
Development Program requirements as follows: Writing - WRIT 121; Reading -
Satisfactory completion of 26 semester credits of transferable credits or the
completion of ED 104 at WMU or exemption based upon a standardized reading
test at WMU; and Quantification - MATH 107 or higher.
5. Students should contact the LCC Transportation and Engineering Technologies
Department (517-267-6406) regarding course selection which will meet the
requirements for the LCC Associate in Applied Science degree.
6. Students seeking an LCC associate degree must fulfill specific graduation
requirements including the LCC general education core requirements. See the
LCC catalog at http://www.lcc.edu/catalog for additional details.
7. This transfer guide requires basic skill levels in mathematics, reading, and
writing. To determine accurate course placement, students should take the
Computerized Placement Tests in the LCC Assessment Center (GB 200) prior to
registration. For testing hours call (517) 267-5500.
