NOTES:
1. See the NMU Liberal Studies Requirements guide for appropriate LCC courses.
The MACRAO Transfer Agreement may also be referred to in selection of
general education courses. Select EITHER the NMU Liberal Studies Requirements
-OR- the MACRAO Transfer Agreement. General education courses will be
applicable to the major or minor. A maximum of 64 semester credits and
one additional physical education activity credit may transfer from a
community college.
2. All candidates for NMU graduation must complete a World Cultures course and
an upper-level (300-400) course. Students can fulfill world cultures require-
ment by completing one of the following while at LCC: ANTH 270, GEOG 200,
HIST 214/240, HUMS 221, or RELG 211. The following courses will meet the
300-level or above requirement: ENGL 211, 212, 255, 256; RELG 241,242.
3. This bachelor's degree prepares students for the State of Michigan Certifica-
tion Exam. Completion of this program and passing the exam enables graduates
to be certified for employment as industrial technology teachers in public
secondary schools. In addition to a teaching major, students must also select
one teaching minor. NMU offers the following teaching minors: Biology,
Chemistry, Physical Education Coaching, Earth Science, Economics, English,
French, Geography, Health Education, History, Mathematics, Physical Education,
Political Science, Physics, and Spanish.
4. Admissions requirements into the Secondary Education program include:
a. A cumulative GPA of 2.70 or higher.
b. A satisfactory score on the Pre-Professional Screening Test (PPST). The
PPST is waived for student who have ACT sub-scores of 21 in English and
Reading, and sub-score of 20 in Mathematics.
c. A passing score of the Michigan Test for Teacher Certification (MTTC) Basic
Skills test.
d. Successfully complete the NMU pre-methods education sequence.
5. Due to required Education courses, students are encouraged to transfer to
NMU after three semesters at LCC.
6. Note that CADD 102,131: ELCT 101; and MFGM 101 were discontinued Summer 2004
and removed from the "REQUIREMENTS" above. LCC has not received the course
equivalency for the replacement courses (CADD 112, MFGM 175). Students should
verify transferability with Northern Michigan University prior to taking any
course/s not listed on this guide.
7. Note that CNCP 105; MACH 100, 110, 111, and 112 were discontinued Summer 2004
and removed from this choice. LCC has not received the course equivalency for
the replacement course (PMMT 100). Students should contact the Transfer
Admissions Counselor (see contact information below) when selecting courses
to meet this choice.
8. Students can fulfill the health promotion requirement by completing PFFT 100
and a physical education activity course at LCC.
9. Select elective credits in the Teaching or Contracted Technical minor with
assistance from the NMU transfer admissions counselor.
10. Students seeking an LCC associate degree must fulfill specific graduations
requirements including the LCC general education core requirements. See the

11. This transfer guide requires basic skill levels in mathematics, reading, and
writing. To determine accurate course placement, students should take the
Computerized Placement Tests in the LCC Assessment Center (GVT 2100) prior to
