NOTES:
1. Grand Valley State University (GVSU) honors the MACRAO Transfer Agreement.
Students whose transcripts are endorsed as "MACRAO Satisfied" will only be
required to meet the following GVSU Provisos:
a. demonstrate proficiencies in math [fulfilled with MATH 112 at LCC]
b. two cultural classes [fulfilled with CHOICE 3 and 4 above]
To use MACRAO, students should request a MACRAO evaluation of their transcript
from the LCC Registrar's Office. Students who do not satisfy MACRAO will have
to satisfy the GVSU General Education Requirements.
2. GVSU accepts a maximum of 62 transferable credits. The GVSU transfer admission
grade point average is 2.50. LCC courses other than those appearing on this
guide should be checked for transferability to the four-year institution.
3. Students seeking a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree are required to demonstrate
third-semester competence in a foreign language. Select credits from
FREN/GRMN/SPAN 121, 122, 201. Other language choices are available at GVSU.
4. GVSU requires 120 credits for the bachelor's degree. Students are encouraged
to select electives with the assistance of a GVSU advisor.
5. The vocational value of philosophy depends on its connection with other
fields. For example, formal logic is close to mathematics; ethics is import-
ant for medicine, business, teaching, and counseling; legal and political
philosophy are essential to law and public service; philosophy of science has
a bearing on the social and natural sciences; and aesthetics and the history
of philosophy are useful to literature and the arts.
6. Students seeking an LCC associate degree must fulfill specific graduation
requirements including the LCC general education core requirements. See the
LCC catalog at http://www.lcc.edu/catalog for additional details.
7. This transfer guide requires basic skill levels in mathematics, reading, and
writing. To determine accurate course placement, students should take the
Computerized Placement Tests in the LCC Assessment Center (GB 200) prior to
registration. For testing hours call (517) 267-5500.
