NOTES:
1. This program meets the requirements of the MACRAO Transfer Agreement. The
GVSU transfer admission grade point average is 2.50.
2. Students will be expected to demonstrate proficiency in English composition
upon transferring to Grand Valley State University. Please consult the GVSU
Admissions Office for further details. LCC courses other than those appear-
ing on this guide should be checked for transferability to the four-year
institution.
3. A minimum of one lab science is required for all students. Students seeking
the Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree are required to demonstrate third-semester
competence in a foreign language.
4. Professional and career opportunities for students majoring in anthropology
include jobs in international development/assistance (nonprofit and govern-
ment), government, education, museums, international business, zoos, human
services, and health care.
5. It is important to identify your interests as early as possible so that you
and your advisor can develop the best academic program possible. For many
career paths in anthropology, it is important to have experience through one
or more practicums or actual field experience in archeology. These
opportunities are available with appropriate planning and coordination with
your advisor.
6. Career practicum experiences are available for students interested in museum
work and a number of other activities in local communities. Students
interested in practicum experiences need to begin planning with their advisor
for the experience as early as possible in their college career.
7. Students seeking an LCC associate degree must fulfill specific graduation
requirements including the LCC general education core requirements. See the
LCC catalog at http://www.lcc.edu/catalog for additional details.
8. This transfer guide requires basic skill levels in mathematics, reading, and
writing. To determine accurate course placement, students should take the
Computerized Placement Tests in the LCC Assessment Center (GB 200) prior to
registration. For testing hours call (517) 267-5500.
