NOTES:
1. Grand Valley State University (GVSU) honors the MACRAO Transfer Agreement.
Students whose transcripts are endorsed as "MACRAO Satisfied" will only be
required to meet the following GVSU Provisos:
a. demonstrate proficiencies in math [fulfilled with MATH 112 at LCC]
b. two cultural classes [fulfilled with SOCL 260 and CHOICE 2 above]
To use MACRAO, students should request a MACRAO evaluation of their transcript
from the LCC Registrar's Office. Students who do not satisfy MACRAO will have
to satisfy the GVSU General Education Requirements.
2. GVSU accepts a maximum of 62 transferable credits. The GVSU transfer admission
grade point average is 2.50. LCC courses other than those appearing on this
guide should be checked for transferability to the four-year institution.
3. Students majoring in criminal justice or in legal studies may earn either a
B.A. or a B.S. degree. The B.A. degree requires third-semester proficiency in
a foreign language. Students are encouraged to contact GVSU (see below) when
selecting electives.
4. To complete the requirements for graduation with a bachelor's degree in
criminal justice, students must fulfill the general education requirements.
While most courses taken at accredited colleges and universities are transfer-
able for full credit, only four courses will be considered toward criminal
justice major programs. Students should take at least two-thirds of the
credits constituting their major from Grand Valley State University.
5. State requirements for certification in law enforcement:
The School of Criminal Justice operates a state certified C.O.L.E.S. Police
Academy during the summer months. The program leads to eligibility for police
certification in Michigan and several other states. It cannot be counted
toward a major or general electives for graduation.
6. Students seeking an LCC associate degree must fulfill specific graduation
requirements including the LCC general education core requirements. See the
LCC catalog at http://www.lcc.edu/catalog for additional details.
7. This transfer guide requires basic skill levels in mathematics, reading, and
writing. To determine accurate course placement, students should take the
Computerized Placement Tests in the LCC Assessment Center (GB 200) prior to
registration. For testing hours call (517) 267-5500.
