NOTES:
1. This program DOES NOT fulfill the requirements for the MACRAO Transfer
Agreement. The GVSU minimum transfer admissions grade point average is a
2.50. Additional courses are required at GVSU prior to applying to the Social
Work program.
2. Students will be expected to demonstrate proficiency in English composition
upon transferring to Grand Valley State University. Please consult the GVSU
Admissions Office for further details. LCC courses other than those appear-
ing on this guide should be checked for transferability to the four-year
institution.
3. Admission and Academic Requirements:
All social work majors must formally apply to the School of Social Work at
the end of the sophomore year. Application materials must be completed and
submitted by September 30 for winter admission.
To be eligible for consideration of candidacy, students must have:
a. Completed all freshman and sophomore course requirements in the BSW.
curriculum.
b. A minimum GPA of 2.0.
c. Earned a minimum grade of B- (2.7) in selected courses.
d. Complete the application and process for candidacy for the BSW degree.
4. Degree offered: Bachelor of Science in Social Work (BSW) degree.
5. This program offers more than the maximum 62 transferable credits. Students
are required to take 58 credits at GVSU and should work with a GVSU advisors
when making LCC course selections.
6. Students seeking an LCC associate degree must fulfill specific graduation
requirements including the LCC general education core requirements. See the
LCC catalog at http://www.lcc.edu/catalog for additional details.
7. This transfer guide requires basic skill levels in mathematics, reading, and
writing. To determine accurate course placement, students should take the
Computerized Placement Tests in the LCC Assessment Center (GB 200) prior to
