1. See the NMU Liberal Studies Requirements guide for appropriate LCC courses.
The MACRAO Transfer Agreement may also be referred to in selection of
general education courses. Select EITHER the NMU Liberal Studies Requirements
-OR- the MACRAO Transfer Agreement. General education courses will be
applicable to the major or minor. A maximum of 64 semester credits and
one additional physical education activity credit may transfer from a
community college.
2. All candidates for NMU graduation must complete a World Cultures course and
an upper-level (300-400) course. Students can fulfill the world cultures
requirement by completing one of the following while at LCC: ANTH 270, ENGL
211,212; GEOG 200, HIST 214,240, HUMS 221, or RELG 211,250. The following
courses will meet the 300-level or above requirement: ENGL 211,212,255,256;
RELG 241,242; SOCL 185.
3. NMU offers a bachelor's degree in Chemistry and one in Chemistry/ACS Certified.
The Chemistry major is for students whose objective is to prepare for further
work in areas outside pure chemistry such as biological sciences, medicine,
dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, engineering, material science, pollution control,
or ecology. The Chemistry/ACS Certified is for students who plan to pursue
graduate level work in chemistry or to work in the chemical industry.
4. Students can fulfill the health promotion requirement by completing PFFT 100
and a physical education activity course at LCC.
5. Note that PHYS 201, 202, 215, 216, 225, 226 were removed from the "Limited

LCC has not received course equivalencies for the replacement courses (PHYS
221, 222, 251, 252). Students are encouraged to contact the Transfer
Admissions Counselor (see contact information below) when selecting courses to
meet this choice. Students should always verify transferability with
Northern Michigan University prior to taking any course/s not listed on this
guide.
6. Students seeking an LCC associate degree must fulfill specific graduation
requirements including the LCC general education core requirements. See the
LCC catalog at http://www.lcc.edu/catalog for additional details.
7. This transfer guide requires basic skill levels in mathematics, reading, and
writing. To determine accurate course placement, students should take the
Computerized Placement Tests in the LCC Assessment Center (GB 200) prior to
registration. For testing hours call (517) 267-5500.
