NOTES:
1. Eastern Michigan University (EMU) honors the MACRAO Transfer Agreement.
Students whose transcripts are endorsed as "MACRAO Satisfied" will only be
required to meet three EMU general education requirements. The following
requirements may be completed at the most appropriate time for the student,
whether before or after enrollment at EMU:
   a. an approved course in Quantitative Reasoning: [taken at LCC]
   b. an approved course in Perspectives on a Diverse World [taken at LCC/EMU]
   c. an approved Learning Beyond the Classroom course/experience at EMU.
To use MACRAO, students should request a MACRAO evaluation of their tran-
script from the LCC Registrar's Office.  Students who do not satisfy MACRAO
are required to complete the EMU General Education Requirements.
2. Students who plan to major in Special Education should consider transferring
to EMU after earning 30-32 LCC semester credits.  This will allow the student
to complete required specialized courses for entry to the College of Education
and the Department of Special Education.
3. Only coursework with a GPA of 2.0 or better will be accepted in transfer to
EMU.  A minimum of 60 semester hours exclusive of community college credits
is required for graduation from EMU.
4. Students may pursue elementary or secondary certification in one of the
following areas: Cognitive Impairment (CI), Emotional Impairment (EI); Hearing
Impairment (HI); Physical Impairment/Other Health Impairment (PoHI); Speech
and Language Pathology (SLI); and Visual Impairment (VI).
5. All prospective Special Education majors should make an appointment to see a
Faculty Advisor in the Department of Special Education at the time of initial
registration to EMU. Special Education majors should not attend group
advising selections required for Elementary/Secondary educations program.
6. HI majors select one course from: SIGN 161,162,163 or 164.
7. These courses apply to students who will be teaching Special Education at the
elementary education level. For students who plan to teach special education
at the secondary education level, please view the EMU General Education guide,
Area II for math course options, and Area IV-1,2 for art, dance, music or
   theatre options.
8. Students seeking an LCC associate degree must fulfill specific graduation
requirements including the LCC general education core requirements.  See the
LCC catalog at http://www.lcc.edu/catalog for additional details.
9. This transfer guide requires basic skill levels in mathematics, reading, and
writing.  To determine accurate course placement, students should take the
Computerized Placement Tests in the LCC Assessment Center (GB 200) prior to
registration.  For testing hours call (517) 267-5500.
