NOTES:
1. See the NMU Liberal Studies Requirements guide for appropriate LCC courses.
The MACRAO Transfer Agreement may also be referred to in selection of
general education courses. Select EITHER the NMU Liberal Studies Requirements
-OR- the MACRAO Transfer Agreement. General education courses will be
applicable to the major or minor. A maximum of 64 semester credits and
one additional physical education activity credit may transfer from a
community college. Students pursuing visual arts, music or physical
education at the elementary level should consider transferring at the end
of the freshman year.
2. All candidates for NMU graduation must complete a World Cultures course and
an upper-level (300-400) course. Students can fulfill the world cultures
requirement by completing one of the following while at LCC: ANTH 270;
GEOG 200; HIST 214,240; HUMS 221; RELG 211,250. The following courses will
meet the 300-level or above requirement: ENGL 211,212,255,256; RELG 241,242;
SOCL 185.
3. This Bachelor's degree program prepares students to teach in the elementary
grades of K-8. Admissions requirements include the following:
a. A cumulative GPA of 2.70 or higher.
b. A satisfactory score of the Pre-Professional Screening Test (PPST). The
PPST is waived for students who have ACT sub-scores of 21 in English and
Reading, and a sub-score of 20 in Mathematics.
c. A passing score of the Michigan Test for Teacher Certification (MTTC) Basic
Skills test.
d. Successfully complete the NMU pre-methods education sequence.
4. Students can fulfill the health promotion requirement by completing PFFT 100
and a physical education activity course at LCC.
5. Select four credits of Science from: ASTR 201; BIOL 120; CHEM 135,151&161,
152&162; GEOG 121; GEOL 221; ISCI 121,122,131; PHYS 120,221,251.
6. Students will select one of four options and allowable major/minor fields
listed in the NMU Bulletin. Majors include English, Language Arts,
Mathematics, Integrated Science, and Social Studies. Contact the NMU transfer
admissions counselor to discuss selection of major and additional courses to
take at LCC.
7. Students seeking an LCC associate degree must fulfill specific graduation
requirements including the LCC general education core requirements. See the
LCC catalog at http://www.lcc.edu/catalog for additional details.
8. This transfer guide requires basic skill levels in mathematics, reading, and
writing. To determine accurate course placement, students should take the
Computerized Placement Tests in the LCC Assessment Center (GB 200) prior to
