NOTES:
1. See the WMU General Education or MACRAO Transfer Agreement guides for
appropriate LCC courses. LCC courses other than those appearing on this
guide should be checked for transferability to the four-year institution.
2. Two semester credits of health and well-being courses are required for
graduation from WMU. Select from PFFT 114; PFHW 163.
3. You must receive a 2.0 (C) or better to transfer art courses. Transfer art
credit may be used to fulfill no more than one-half the number of credits
required for the art major. Many beginning level art courses will transfer
with direct WMU course equivalents. Some beginning and most intermediate
level art courses will receive general "art credit". If you receive general
art credit for any course you feel would fulfill a required art course or for
any course needed to fulfill a prerequisite, you must present a portfolio for
consideration. Based on the portfolio review, the course in question will
receive either a direct course equivalent or remain as general art credit.
General art credits can be used to fulfill art electives or other electives
required for graduation.
4. Students wishing to apply for admissions to the BFA program, with a major in
Graphic Design, must submit a portfolio for review in the Spring semester of
the freshman year. Applicants to this program must have taken or be enrolled
in the following courses in order to apply during their freshman year:
ARTS 103,131,153; HUMS 211 or 212. The Graphic Design major in the BFA
program is sequential and must be started in the Fall semester of the
sophomore year in order for students to complete this program in four years.
5. All prospective art majors must submit a portfolio for review one semester
prior to enrollment. Portfolio requirements may be obtained from the web at
www.wmich.edu/art.
6. WMU requires all students to satisfactorily complete an Intellectual Skills
Development Program. LCC courses which meet the Intellectual Skills require-
ments are: Writing: WRIT 121; Reading: Satisfactory completion of 26 semester
credits of transferable credits, or the completion of ED 104 at WMU, or
exemption based upon a standardized reading test at WMU; and Quantification:
MATH 107.
7. Students seeking an LCC associate degree must fulfill specific graduation
requirements including the LCC general education core requirements. See the
LCC catalog at http://www.lcc.edu/catalog for additional details.
8. This transfer guide requires basic skill levels in mathematics, reading, and
writing. To determine accurate course placement, students should take the
Computerized Placement Tests in the LCC Assessment Center (GB 200) prior to
registration. For testing hours call (517) 267-5500.
