                                  REQUIREMENTS

NOTES:
1. This transfer guide represents an articulation (partnership) agreement
   between Lansing Community College and Spring Arbor University that 
   facilitates the transfer of LCC students to the SAU Lansing Center School
   of Adult Studies.
2. After completion of an Associate's degree from LCC, a student may transfer
   to SAU's School of Adult Studies after completing the following steps:
   a. Successfully completion of a minimum of 58 transferable credits;
   b. Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher;
   c. Timely submission and approval of all application material, including
      a writing sample;
   d. Personal interview with a SAU admissions representative and/or 
      academic advisor.
3. The Bachelor of Arts degree in Family Life Education is an applied
   interdisciplinary approach to the study of family dynamics and the relation-
   ships between families and the larger society.  It prepares students for 
   careers in education, the ministry, and social service agencies.  Those who
   complete the program are eligible to become certified Family Life Educators 
   as designated by the National Council on Family Relations.
4. Degree Requirements:
   a. One hundred twenty-four semester credits must be completed. Forty-five to
      forty-seven of these hours must be completed in the Family Life Education
      major. At least 40 credits must be in upper division courses numbered 300
      and 400.
   b. Students who satisfy the MACRAO Transfer Agreement at LCC will be
      considered as having met all first and second year general education
      requirements.
   c. Students who have not satisfied the MACRAO Transfer Agreement at LCC will
      need to complete the SAU General Education Requirements.
5. Additional information:
   a. A maximum of 30 semester credits may be achieved from Prior Learning
      Assessment (PLA).  The total number of credits received through the PLA
      depends on the background experience of the student and the ability to
      write the learning experiences in acceptable form.
   b. If the total number of credits from the major, PLA, and transfer does not
      total 124 semester hours, additional work must be completed via
      proficiency examinations or by taking courses from Spring Arbor 
      University or other accredited four-year colleges or universities.
   c. Grades below 2.00 will not transfer.  Courses numbered lower than 100 
      will not transfer.  A maximum of 84 semester credits may transfer from a 
      two-year institution for this major.
   d. A maximum of 40 technical/occupational hours may be applied toward this 
      degree.
