NOTES:
1. Students should satisfy the WMU General Education Requirements or the
MACRAO Transfer Agreement.
2. Students may choose one of the following seven majors: Communication Studies;
Film, Video, and Media Studies* (includes radio and televisions production);
Interpersonal Communication; Journalism; Organizational Communication; Public
Relations*; Telecommunication-Information Management*.
(*) Admission to these three majors requires a separate application and is
decided by competitive selection, since demand is high. Applications are
available from the School of communication in 301 Sprau Tower or online, and
are reviewed annually on September 15, January 15, and May 15.
3. Admission Criteria - A student's application for admission to a major will be
considered when the student has:
a. Completed 30 hours of college work, at least 15 hours of which are at WMU.
b. Achieved an overall GPA of 2.50 or above.
c. Completed pre-communication course requirements with a grade of 2.0 or
better in each course, taking a pre-communication class no more than
twice.
4. Students may transfer up to 15 credit hours with a grade of 2.0 or better
toward a Communication or Journalism major; and up to 9 credit hours with a
grade of 2.0 or better toward a Communication or Journalism minor. For
information on additional courses which may be completed at LCC contact the
individual/school listed below.
5. Students can schedule an advising appointment online or by contacting the
individual/school listed below.
6. Courses approved as "COM credit" may be used as general electives for the
WMU degree and also be used to fulfill a 1000-2000 level communication
elective. Additional credits beyond these hours may count as general
electives.

writing. To determine accurate course placement, students should take the
Computerized Placement Tests in the LCC Assessment Center (GB 200) prior to
