NOTES:
1. Students seeking teaching certification at Olivet College, must have a
teachable major and minor. Education courses are completed as part of the
certification program and as such are not considered a major. It is
recommended that students refer to the transfer guides for their intended
major or minor and take their 19-22 electives in those areas. Approved
majors include the following: English, History, Integrated Science,
Mathematics, Physical Education, Social Studies, Special Education, Visual
Arts, and Music Education.
2. See the MACRAO Transfer Agreement guide for appropriate LCC course selection.
Students who complete this guide at LCC will transfer to Olivet College as
juniors. Olivet College graduation requirements include: a major, Major
Seminar (each semester enrolled), Portfolio, Service Learning, and Senior
Experience.
3. This guide is supported by an articulation (partnership) agreement between
Lansing Community College (LCC) and Olivet College which facilitates the
transfer of LCC associate degree holders. Students who transfer without
completing the MACRAO Transfer Agreement or an Associate's Degree will need
to complete the liberal arts curriculum at Olivet College.
4. There is a secondary admissions process to become accepted to the Teacher
Preparation Program at Olivet College that includes the following:
a. Passage of the Basic Skills portion of the Michigan Test for Teacher
Certification (MTTC)
b. Completion of 200-level education courses
c. Declared major and minor appropriate for elementary and secondary
certification
d. Two letters of recommendation
e. 2.75 cumulative grade point average
f. Criminal background check
g. Completion with a 2.0 (C) or better of WRIT 122 (or the equivalent to
Olivet College-IDS 112)
5. Students seeking an LCC associate degree must fulfill specific graduation
requirements including the LCC general education core requirements. See the
LCC catalog at http://www.lcc.edu/catalog for additional details.
6. This transfer guide requires basic skill levels in mathematics, reading, and
writing. To determine accurate course placement, students should take the
Computerized Placement Tests in the LCC Assessment Center (GB 200) prior to
