LCC Tobacco Free Compliance

Lansing Community College is tobacco free to provide a healthy and safe environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Compliance

Beginning May 12, 2008, non-compliance with the policy will be addressed by LCC Public Safety officials as follows:

First Incident

Receive a non-compliance warning form. Campus Police will advise the individual about the policy, issue a warning notice, and record contact information into the database.

Second Incident

In the case of a student, the individual will receive a non-compliance warning form, informing them that they have five days to meet with the Dean of Student Services, who will counsel the individual about the importance of complying with college policies and the ramifications if they do not choose to do so.

In the case of an employee, the employee's supervisor will be notified, and the supervisor will be asked to meet with the employee within five days.

Third Incident

In the case of a student, the individual could be placed on probation and/or suspended (Dean of Student Services has the final say. The process for doing this is the same as what is in place now for a student who violates a college policy. In the case of an employee, the employee will be subject to the disciplinary procedures currently in place for violation of college policies.
