What is eRefunds PLUS?

eRefunds PLUS is LCC's new program to disburse refunds to students that have credit balances on their student account. ECSI through the TouchNet Student Account Center is partnering with Lansing Community College to get refunds to students faster and more securely.

Please note: eRefunds PLUS is NOT the same as the Installment Payment Plans, and selecting your refund preference will NOT secure your seat in your classes. For information about the Installment Payment Plans, click here.

Who does this new refund program affect?

This program affects all students anticipating a refund from LCC, including financial aid refunds and/or refunds for overpayments.

Where's my card?

Under the new eRefunds PLUS program, students will not receive any cards. Students will select their refund preference and if they choose to apply for and are approved for a Discover Cashback Checking Account, then a card will be mailed to the student upon approval.

Can I still use my Higher One account and card?

Yes. When the student selects their refund preference, they will input their Higher One account information in the option to have their refund transferred via ACH to their desired bank account. Because the new ATM's that have been placed on campus are part of the All Point network, Higher One account holders should not receive a foreign ATM surcharge.

How do I make my refund preference selection?

  • Log into Banner through myLCC.
  • Click Student.
  • Ensure your student profile contains a phone number, address, and date of birth.
  • Click on TouchNet Student Account Center.
  • Select the eRefunds tab.
  • Click on the "Make Your Refund Choice" box
  • Select either the Direct Deposit option box or the Discover Cashback Checking option box for the new account.
    • Direct Deposit Selected:
      • Provide your bank account information - Account Type, Routing Number, Account Number.
      • Enter the address, phone number, and email address.
      • Review the information for accuracy and click submit.
    • Discover Cashback Checking Selected:
      • A separate internet tabs opens to the Discover application page - complete the personal information screen and click next
      • Click next to enter your electronic Signature Consent
      • Review the Deposit Account Agreement, click the checkbox next to your name, and click next
      • Review the W-9 Tax Certification, enter your social security number or taxpayer ID number, click the checkbox next to your name, and click next
      • Review the Account Center Banking Agreement, click the checkbox next to your name, and click submit
      • Answer the questions on the Verify Identity screen and click the Verify Your Identity box
      • Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the Online Registration (User ID, Password, type of computer being used) and click the Register Me box
      • The student will be directed back to the Delivery Method Pending screen which informs the students how the approval and communication will be completed by Discover.
      • Upon approval the student will receive a Cashback Checking Account Confirmation email.

What are my options to receive refunds?

There are two options for receiving your student refunds through eRefunds PLUS:

  • ACH transfer to an existing bank account. Funds are transferred to a student's account via ACH. Funds will be available through your personal account 2-3 business days after the posted refund date depending on your bank's processes.
  • Apply for and open a Discover Cashback Checking account. This option will be available in the refund selection process. Once the account has been approved, funds are transferred to the account via ACH and will be available through your personal account 2-3 business days after the posted refund date.

What if I'm having trouble selecting my refund preference?

What happens if I never select my refund preference?

A paper check will be mailed to the student. HOWEVER, PLEASE NOTE: Students with no refund preference selected will receive a paper check in the mail up to 21 days after refunds are disbursed due to the processing involved in paper checks. This is why it is highly encouraged for all students to select a refund preference to enable fast and secure delivery through ACH to the desired bank account.

What types of refunds are handled through eRefunds PLUS?

All student refunds will be issued through eRefunds PLUS, including financial aid refunds, and refunds for overpayments.

How do I know if I'm supposed to receive a refund?

A refund is generated if your financial aid and/or out-of-pocket payments exceed the cost of your tuition and fees.

What if I close my bank account and forget to update my refund preference?

If your ACH transfer fails and is returned by the bank, a check will be printed and mailed to your billing address on file.

I applied for the Discover Cashback Checking Account and I have questions regarding the status, who do I contact?
