Teachers' comments about the Planetarium Outreach
Program
“The children were impressed with your
demonstration of distance between the Earth and the Moon, which is
so hard to imagine. I can’t thank you enough for making these
concepts closer to understanding for these kidlets than I do. The
kids always come back to school with a much better grasp after
they’ve been with you. And thanks for starting us on the right path
with the moon phases. That’s a tricky one, too. OF course they
love the constellations. Third graders are really into dots-to-dots
and imagination. Once more time, I am so glad to be able to thank
YOU for your effort, your time and the respectful way you act with
these youngsters. I so love learning form you as well. You are a
teacher’s teacher.”
‘Thank you so much for the presentation
to you mad to our 3rd and 4th grade classes
several weeks ago. Your approach to these kids was perfect. You
didn’t talk down to them, but you explained phenomena and processes
to them in ways that they would understand. You made the learning
exciting and FUN. The students came back full of information that
they translated into a terrific report, so you had a big impact on
their understanding of the sun, the earth, the moon and their
relationships. I appreciated that you were willing to adapt your
program to our needs. It was the perfect field trip to the
planetarium because of that. Again, many thanks!”
“Thank you or all of the time you put
into the show for our 3rd grade children. I know they
learned many things and had a terrific experience! We’ll look
forward to next year!”
“Our trip to the planetarium was
wonderful. You presented concepts SO clearly and talked with the
kids in ways they could understand. That is a great skill that you
have! It was nice to be able to ask questions all through the
program. The kids came out quite excited. Last night, as we were
coming home from our band practice, one boy pointed up and
proclaimed, “There’s Orion and there’s the Seven Sisters and there
are the stars that form the bull’s head!” He was thrilled and so
was I! Thanks for your input in their lives!”
“I want to thank you for the informative
and engaging presentation you made at the planetarium last Friday.
You demonstrated an understanding of three to five year olds, their
interests, fears and curiosity. Your patience in thoroughly
explaining the details, listening to and addressing their many
questions, and keeping their interest for a complete hour was
commendable. The presentation was informative and even the staff
remarked on how much they learned.”
I want to take this opportunity to thank
you for all the wonderful work you have done for the Girl Scouts at
Michigan Capitol Girl Scout Council. The programs that you have
designed for the Brownie Space Explorer Try-It and the Junior Sky
Search Badge are outstanding. When we offered your programs to our
membership last year I was unsure of the response we would get.
However I can assure you that this is one of our most requested
programs and one of the best attended. Your programs are
continually ranked excellent when evaluations are submitted. Thank
you so much for your dedication to quality and your community
involvement.”
