Veterinary Technology                                                             

LCC offers a two-year Associate in Applied Science degree in Veterinary Technology.  This curriculum is conducted in association with the MSU Veterinary Technology program.  The State of Michigan requires that any person employed as a veterinary technician must be licensed and registered with the state.  The credentialing examination is only available to qualified graduates of accredited educational programs.

Licensed Veterinary Technicians are compassionate, positive and highly motivated professionals dedicated to animal health care.
The Vet Tech is entrusted with such diverse medical responsibilities as:

• Nursing Care

• Laboratory Specimen Analysis

• Physical Therapy

• Surgical Assistance

• Anesthesia

• Dental Hygiene

• Radiographic Imaging

• Nutritional Management

• Client Education

The variety or experiences in veterinary technology makes it an exciting, fast-paced, and challenging medical career uniquely attractive for those who enjoy working with animals and people.  Career opportunities exist with:

This program is unique in that it is only one of two veterinary technician training programs in the nation that is directly associated with a college of veterinary medicine and a veterinary teaching hospital Veterinary technology students are exposed to the cutting edge of technology, medical practices and patient care.
