Requirements
Each year, Lansing Community College offers up to 49 Occupational Program Awards to new, currently enrolled, or returning students who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement and plan to complete a one-year certificate of completion or a two-year occupational degree at LCC. Although students following an occupational program may eventually transfer to a four-year institution, their primary objective in attending LCC is to seek education and the acquisition of skills needed to enter the work force or to advance in their current careers.

The awards are offered for a maximum of five semesters over a period of two consecutive years. Renewal each semester is contingent upon the recipient meeting all award requirements. Each recipient will have $924 applied directly to his or her account to reduce the balance for each fall and spring semester covered by the award and $462 if he or she chooses to use the award during a summer. These amounts will cover approximately 12 billing hours in Fall and Spring Semesters and six billing hours in Summer Session. An award recipient must:

Be a citizen or permanent resident of the U.S.

Reside in the LCC district.

Be a high school graduate.

Pursue an approved LCC occupational curriculum.

Possess excellent academic ability in the area of study he/she proposes to pursue.

Have a cumulative high school grade point average of at least 3.0 (new student) OR a cumulative college grade point average of at least 3.0 (currently enrolled or returning student).
Award Selection Criteria
Selection is based on grade point average, ability in the selected area of study, letters of reference, and a written personal statement.
The Selection Committee will attempt to equitably distribute available awards among the various occupational program areas.
Award Requirements

Students must follow an approved LCC occupational curriculum.

Students must maintain a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Students must successfully complete at least six approved credits Fall and Spring Semesters.

Summer Session enrollment is optional. Summer Session enrollment requires at least three approved credits.
