Each year, this program offers up
to 36 Honors Program Awards to new, currently enrolled, or
returning students who have demonstrated outstanding
academic achievement and plan to complete a two-year
transfer curriculum at LCC and then transfer to a four-year
institution to pursue a bachelor's degree. Although
students following a transfer program may plan to earn a
general associate, associate in arts, or associate in
science degree, their primary objective in attending LCC is
to complete general education, required, and recommended
courses in preparation for transfer to a four-year college
or university.
Lists of common transfer majors may be found at
Associate in Arts/Associate in Science Degrees.
The awards are offered for a maximum
of five semesters over a period of two consecutive
years. Renewal each semester is contingent upon the recipient meeting all
award requirements. Each recipient will have $1177 applied
directly to his or her account to reduce the balance for
each fall and spring semester covered by the award and $589 if he or she chooses to use the award during a summer. These
amounts will cover approximately 16 billing hours in Fall
and Spring Semesters and 8 billing hours in Summer Session. An
award recipient must:
-
Be a citizen or permanent resident
of the U.S.
-
Reside in the LCC district
-
Be a high school graduate
-
Have a cumulative high school grade point
average of at least 3.2 (new student) or a cumulative
college grade point average of at least 3.2 and a minimum of
16 transferable college credits earned (currently enrolled
or returning student)
-
Have a composite ACT score of at
least 20 OR college-level reading, writing,
and mathematics skills as determined by LCC basic skills
tests.
