Advisors and counselors assist students with course selection, assessment results, academic programs, transfer to four-year colleges and universities, general college information, or any other academic concerns. Academic advising is available at Counseling and Advising Center, room 204 Gannon Building, and in academic department offices. Counseling and Advising provides services on an appointment basis as well as limited drop-ins. Licensed counselors are available to help students with career planning or personal issues. Students can have general advising questions answered by an academic advisor within 24 hours by sending questions to eadvising@lcc.edu.

New students are expected to attend orientation prior to the start of classes.
Orientation is designed to provide key information and help you feel comfortable
as you begin your academic experience at LCC. During your session you will:
- Learn tips for being a successful LCC student
- Get academic advising
- Learn about financial aid options and other ways to pay for classes
- Register for classes
- Tour the campus
Orientation is free, and pre-registration is required. Adult guests are welcome to attend with students. Students should complete their application for admission to LCC and their basic skills assessment testing (reading, writing, and math) prior to attending orientation.
