Important Information for Students Registering for Summer and Fall Semesters

Summer-Fall Waiver Notification

An important note about Fall 2008 registration
LCC is switching from one student system to another between Summer 2008 and Fall 2008. Due to this transition, if you want to register for a course in Fall for which the prerequisite course is being taken at LCC in Summer, then for this semester only you will need to request a prerequisite override before you can register for your Fall course.

How will this affect me?
First, check the prerequisite for your desired course(s) in the schedule book or online: http://www.lcc.edu/courses.

If your desired course needs only Reading, Writing, and Math Levels, and you have those levels—you can register.

If your desired Fall 2008 course needs a prerequisite course that was passed appropriately at LCC in Spring 2008 or earlier—you can register.

If your desired course needs a prerequisite course being taken Summer 2008 at LCC—you will need an override before you can register.

How can I get an override if needed?

  • If you are going from one course to another at LCC (from ACCG210 in Summer to ACCG211 in Fall, from WRIT121 to WRIT122, from WRIT117 to HIST211, from READ116 to MATH107, etc.), then your override request should go to the Waiver Team http://www.lcc.edu/advising/waivers.htm.

  • If your prerequisite course is being taken outside of LCC, then your override request should go to the appropriate academic department http://www.lcc.edu/academics/, not the Waiver Team. (See FAQ #15 here: http://www.lcc.edu/advising/waivers.htm.)

  • In any event, if the Summer prerequisite course is passed appropriately, you will be able to remain in the Fall course for which you received an override. If the grade is not high enough, your override will be removed, and you will be dropped from the Fall course in question.

Lansing Community College reserves the right to drop students from any course when the prerequisite has not been met.
