Learning Communities
Fall Semester 2008
A Learning Community presents an active learning
option for students willing to engage in the adventure of learning about two
or more subjects focused around a common theme. In a learning community,
students sign up for two or more courses. The student has the opportunity to
interact and study with the same group of students in the courses while
enjoying the added benefit of having two instructors at the same time to
guide successful learning. Courses listed below are available for the Fall
2008 semester. To enroll, sign up for the sections listed in the Learning
Community description.
Search for course offerings in Registration and
Students Records (Student System) or view the PDF copy of the course
schedule at
www.lcc.edu/registration
for complete information needed to register.
FIRST STEPS TO SUCCESS
Do you believe there’s some magic to “getting” what an author means?
Do you believe only some people can write? The answer is “no” on both
counts. This learning community takes the mystery out of reading and
writing. Small group work and individualized instruction in a lab
setting help set the stage for you to build vital skills that will help you
on your journey to success. Students who meet the exit competencies
for these courses will receive reading and writing levels required to move
on to more advanced reading and writing courses.
