The appointment is effective June 1, 2013.

Prystowsky will serve as the College's chief academic officer and ensure the overall quality and integrity of its academic programs.
"Dr. Prystowsky brings a superb breadth of academic and administrative experience to LCC," said President Brent Knight. "He understands the importance of helping students achieve their academic goals and will be a key leader in our efforts to enhance student success."
"I am very excited about this opportunity to join the LCC family," Prystowsky said. "Throughout the interview process, it became eminently clear to me that this college offers outstanding academic and technical programs matched by a first-rate group of faculty, administrators, and staff. I look forward to working with my LCC colleagues to help the college continue providing great opportunities for our students and for our business, education, and community partners."
Prystowsky is Interim Dean of Institutional Planning and Effectiveness at Hartnell College in Salinas, California. He previously served as Dean of Academic and Transfer Programs and Division Chair for Math, Science, and Engineering at College of the Redwoods; as Interim Deputy Superintendent/Executive Vice President for Instruction at Victor Valley College; and as the Vice President for Academic Affairs at Central Ohio Technical College.
Before becoming an administrator, Prystowsky was a tenured professor of English and Humanities at Irvine Valley College. He holds a PhD in English, with an emphasis in Critical Theory, from the University of California, Irvine; an MA in English from the University of Michigan; and a BA in English from Pennsylvania State University. In 2011, he attended Harvard’s Institute for Educational Management.
Prystowsky succeeds Dr. Stephanie Shanblatt, who left LCC to become President of Bucks County Community College in Pennsylvania.
Jack Bergeron, who has served as Interim Provost since Shanblatt’s departure, will resume his duties as Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs.
