Future & Current Students – Nadine Cohen
My grandmother started teaching me to cook when I was three years old and I’ve
been cooking ever since. I love it. And now I’m going to make a career of it.
At LCC I am working toward two associate degrees, one in
Hospitality Management, the other in
Food Services and Culinary Arts.
The culinary program at LCC is fantastic and Chef Ian – I am in awe of him and
hope I can be just half as good as he is some day. Most people don’t know we
have anything like this here at LCC. But if you want to be a chef, this is a
professional program and a great experience. It’s one of the best places you
could go to learn. When I have my degrees in hand, I want to move to Las Vegas
and work out there. But I also would like to own my own place someday –
“Winnie’s Catering and Event Planning,†named after my grandmother.
If I’m not busy, I’m not happy. I’m working full time, going to school full
time, I still make time for my kids. I love to read. It took me a long time to
get back into school – I raised my kids first, they were number one. When I
finally got back into college, I was a little intimidated at first, being an
older student. But I found out that just didn’t matter. I love it. I don’t ever
want to completely stop going to school, even once I am working in my new
career.
