Faculty & Staff – Prof. Susie Antcliff
LCC faculty, Graphic Design
I actually first came to LCC as a student to study graphic design, and about two years after I graduated I came back as full-time faculty in Art Design and Multimedia. It’s been interesting to have had the perspective of being a student and teacher in the same program and to have experienced from both sides the advantages of LCC – small classes, a lot of one-on-one and personal interaction, and everyone in class getting to know each other well.
My goal as a teacher is to reach students at a personal level. I try to create an environment where a student can walk in and feel comfortable. I want them to learn, but I want the students to have fun. And I want them to feel a sense of community in that class, and make it a place where they can grow as people as well as learners.
LCC’s graphic design program has great relationships with professionals in the community, and we are constantly evaluating our curriculum to stay current with professional/industry standards – MACs versus PCs, types of software – whatever it is, we make sure our students are on the cutting edge. They learn on the premier version of equipment and software. When our students leave LCC, even for internships, they step into the workplace totally prepared to handle positions as graphic designers.
