Robin M. Smith, Chairperson
Ms. Smith is a lifelong resident of Lansing whose commitment to service in her community is demonstrated through a rich history of personal involvement. She is a graduate of Michigan State University with a bachelor’s degree in advertising with an emphasis in communications. Ms. Smith is currently employed as a teacher with the Lansing School District since 2000. Her areas of focus are language arts and literacy. She is the founder of “Express Yourself”, a communications consultant company. Ms. Smith serves on various boards throughout the community such as serving as the Chairperson of the Board of Water and Light Board of Commissioners. She was elected into office on May 3, 2005 and her term expires December 31, 2011. |

Deborah
Canja, Vice Chairperson Deborah Canja grew up in Lansing and graduated from Lansing Eastern High School. After receiving a B.A. from UCLA and J.D. from Loyola Law School, she served for twelve years as a Michigan Assistant Attorney General. She next served as the Executive Director of a statewide non-profit organization that helps parents advocate for their children with special needs and is the co-founder and CEO of Bridges4Kids, a non-profit organization providing information for families and teachers seeking help for children. Deb currently works for Michigan Equities Realty, a commercial real estate firm and is the President of Michigan Regional CREW - a professional association of women in commercial real estate. She previously served for seven years as her neighborhood association President and continues to serve on that board. She also serves as the Chair of the Board of Camp Casey, a therapeutic riding camp for children with cancer. Deb comes from a tradition of public service. Her father, Alex, was a teacher and coach, former Deputy State Superintendent of Public Instruction for the State of Michigan and served under five State Superintendents. Her mother, Tess, was the former Executive Director of the Area Agencies on Aging Association of Michigan, served as the National President of AARP and continues to be involved in senior issues at both national and state levels. Deb has two sons and lives in Okemos. She was elected to office on November 6, 2007, and her term expires on December 31, 2009. |

Edward Woods III,
Secretary Edward Woods III is the Director of Communications for the Michigan Department of Management and Budget. He has previous experience serving in the Michigan workforce development system, as a Trustee at Lake Michigan College, and teaching political science at Western Michigan University. In the community, Mr. Woods received the Valuable Volunteer Award from Reo Elementary in the Lansing Public Schools District, where he still volunteers today. He also serves his church as Director of Public Affairs and Religious Liberty, and the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Kappa Delta Lambda Chapter (here in Lansing) as the Education Director. Mr. Woods completed his undergraduate studies at Oakwood College in Huntsville, AL. He earned his masters in public administration from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI. He is married to Donnarie, and they have two children, Megan and Michael. He was elected to office on November 6, 2007, and his term expires on December 31, 2013. |

Thomas Rasmusson, Treasurer
Thomas Rasmusson is in private law practice, advising clients on business, forensic accounting and litigation matters. He is a Director of Velcon Energy Conversion Devices Company and non-profit New Century, Inc. Committees have included Audit (Chair), Bylaws, and Nominations (Chair). Dr. Rasmusson is admitted before the United States Supreme Court, and a former Assistant Prosecutor and Special Prosecutor. He is an Adjunct Professor in International and Foreign Relations Law at Thomas M. Cooley Law School, and formerly Director of the State Department project in West Africa and USAID consultant. He has been published on business, accounting, Sarbanes-Oxley, negotiation, banking and other issues, and made presentations at programs at Yale, Harvard Law School and the Wharton S. He was elected to office in 1999. He was re-elected in office on May 3, 2005 and his term expires December 31, 2011. |

Jerry L. Hollister, Trustee
Mr. Hollister is the Chief Operating Officer for Niowave, a Lansing based producer of superconducting particle accelerators. He received his Bachelors Degree in Engineering from the University of Michigan after graduating from Lansing Eastern High School. Mr. Hollister was the statewide project manager for Habitat for Humanity's 2005 Jimmy Carter Work Project. Mr. Hollister has also previously served as a commissioned officer in the US Navy Civil Engineer Corps, a minister for the Church of Christ, and as Building Operations Director for Cooley Law School. Mr. Hollister's family has a rich history of public service in the Lansing, including his mother, the late Judy (Hollister) Wolpe, who served as LCC Board Chair. He and his wife Kathy have 2 children, both who attend Pleasant View Magnet School in Lansing. He was appointed to the Board on April 16, 2007, and elected on November 6, 2007. His term expires December 31, 2013. |

Chris A. Laverty, Trustee
Mr. Laverty is a UAW Training and Technology representative at General Motors, Lansing. He serves on the Capital Area Workforce Development Board, Career Connections Advisory Board, Lansing Community College Foundation, Capital Area Community Foundation, and the Lansing Area Manufacturing Partnership. He is a U.S. Marine Corps, Vietnam Veteran. He was elected into office in June, 2003, and his term expires December 31, 2009.

Robert E. Proctor, Trustee Mr. Proctor is an attorney, arbitrator, and mediator. He is a retired administrative law judge for the Michigan Department of Civil Service and served as legal counsel for the Labor Committee of the Michigan House of Representatives. Mr. Proctor serves and has served on various boards in various capacities within the community such as the following: former board member and chairperson for the American Red Cross; current Treasurer of the Black Child and Family Institute; former Board member of the Lansing Fair Housing Center; and as a mentor and tutor for the Lansing School District. He was elected into office in June, 2003, and his term expires on December 31, 2009. |
