Ergonomics

Ergonomics is the study of the relationship between people, their work, and their physical work environment.  The major goal of ergonomics is to fit the job to the individual.

The purpose of Lansing Community College’s Ergonomics Program is to prevent the pain and suffering, as well as the institutional costs, associated with ergonomic-related injuries.  This is done through a combination of employee training, evaluation of workstations and work practices, and implementation of ergonomics control strategies.  Questions regarding this program should be directed to the College Safety Officer Paul Pirrotta at (517)483-1806.

If you have suffered an ergonomic injury OR if you have been suffering from early symptoms of ergonomic injury such as:

  • Reoccurring or continuous pain/ discomfort
  • Redness and swelling
  • Limited range of motion
  • Numbness or tingling sensation
  • Decreasing hand grip strength

You should:

  • Report the symptoms or injury to your supervisor.
  • Report your symptoms or injury to Police and Public Safety at (517)483-1800.
