How will LCC notify me of an emergency
situation?
At the Downtown and West Campus locations, all
the classroom buildings have emergency public address paging
systems. As quickly as enough is known in order to provide accurate
information and instructions after an emergency situation develops,
a message can be broadcast over the paging systems.
Notifications may also be made through these
means, which allow students and employees at their homes, traveling
to the college or who are at other locations to receive messages:
·
The
LCC home page.
·
The
LCCText emergency email and text messaging system.
·
Televisions in the building lobbies.
·
The college’s radio station
WLNZ, as well as other radio and television stations.
·
Campus Communications employee email and EClips
student email.
How can I prepare myself for an emergency
on campus?
Every classroom should have an emergency
information poster near the door. Become familiar with the
instructions on the poster. Please notify LCC Police (extension
1800) if the poster is missing from your classroom.
LCC publishes an Emergency Procedure Manual,
which is available to all students and employees from the LCC Police
Department and the LCC Emergency Management and Safety Services
Department. It contains information on safety, crime prevention and
emergencies. Be sure to get your own copy. Read it and become
familiar with its contents.
There are evacuation route and shelter area
maps posted in the hallways of all LCC buildings. Take time to
review the map for your area, so you will know the best route to
take to leave the building or to seek shelter inside during an
emergency.
Remember, during an emergency – walk and remain
calm. Help persons with disabilities. Call 911 if emergency rescue
personnel are needed to assist a person with disabilities. |
