Career Facts - Kinesiology Program

What They Do:   An associates degree in Kinesiology will prepare students to enter a variety of fields associated with sports, exercise science, education and/or motor development.

Who Would Enjoy It:   Individuals interested in exercise science, physical education, and athletics, who also like working with people, would enjoy working in this field.  Working environments are usually in gyms, fitness facilities, schools, or hospital settings.

What They Earn:  The starting salaries range from $18,000 - $30,000 per year.   Fitness instructors and personal trainers without a Bachelor’s Degree would be in the range of $12.00 - $45.00/hour depending on certification, experience and location.  Individuals with advanced degrees and experience earn $30,000 - $60,000 a year.

How Many Jobs Available:  Many of the areas of Kinesiology have seen substantial growth in employment opportunities, particularly in the health & wellness fields.

Currently, there is a demand for health educators and for physical education educators who are able to coach and/or be athletic trainers.*
