It Has Happened
LCC has switched computer vendors to
Hewlett-Packard! The new laptops and desktops are already flooding the campus!
Campus Security
We have approximately 68 cameras up in all the buildings on main
campus as of 3/16/05. An important step in increasing campus security, these
cameras are located on the first floor of every building and we will be adding
more cameras in the near future.
iPaqPhone
We are currently trying out some new software
called iPaqPhone which is a product by IPBlue which allows us to emulate a Cisco
7960 series VoIP phone. This allows for calls to be made from a wireless-enabled
PDA over LCC's existing wireless network. See a screenshot

IPCommunicator
We are also currently testing a product called IPCommunicator.
IPCommunicator
is software that emulates a Cisco 7970 Series VoIP Phone on your
computer. It is fully functional, with features such as 8 lines and the missed
call list, and full access to the campus directory. Currently we have several
people across campus testing the software and are looking to this as a possible
replacement for the current desk phones. We are awaiting more feedback before
moving forward with this project
