How to setup student printers

ITS has announced the ability to allow students to print to our printers from their laptops.

This functionality is available for all students that possess an active TUID and laptops with compatible wireless capabilities (802.11b, 802.11a, 802.11g)

Windows Setup

Step 1:

Boot into windows (XP or higher preferred).

Step 2:

Connect to the wireless connection "LCCGuest."

Step 3:

Once connected to the wireless, upon opening a web browser you will see the "Lansing Community College Guest Authentication".  At this screen you will need to login with your TUID and password:

Step 4:

Either click on Start and select Run; or (in Windows Vista) hold down the Windows Key () and hit R to open the run command.

Step 5:

In the "Open: " box of the run command type in "\\pantera" (without the quotes) and hit the OK button:

Step 6:

In a couple of seconds you should see a pop up asking you to connect to Pantera and to input your User Name and Password:

NOTE! You MUST have star\ before your TUID otherwise you will not get logged in correctly.

Step 7:

After logging in you will see a list of all student accessible printers on campus

Step 8:

Find the printer that corresponds to the building/room that you are currently in and right click on the printer name, select Connect... from the resulting window:

Step 9:

You will see a progress bar as Windows installs the printer on your machine:

Step 10:

After successfully adding the printer to your computer, you will be able to use it from any application (by selecting the print function and selecting the appropriate printer).

Upon rebooting or disconnecting from our wireless network (generally from taking the laptop home and bringing it back on campus) - You will have to follow steps 1 through 7 again.  This will reconnect you with your TUID to our print servers and is the only way to print on campus to LCC printers from your personal laptop.
