Program Length
Medical Insurance Billing is a two-semester program, not including prerequisites.

Nature of Work
The Medical Insurance Biller is involved in every phase of medical insurance billing form receiving patient information through receipt of payment. In this field, you will be responsible for insurance card interpretation, coding procedures, understanding and complying with insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, worker's compensation and other requirements.

Employment Prospects
Job openings are expected to grow as fast as average, or about 10 to 20 percent.

Skills you Need
To be successful as a Medical Insurance Biller, you will need to be adaptable, pay close attention to detail, have good oral and written communications, plus math and keyboarding skills.

Expected Earnings
A Medical Insurance Biller can expect to earn $10 to $13 per hour.
