Banner Project Update

Project Overview

Project Plans have been developed for all Banner System Modules (Finance, HR, Student, and Financial Aid) and the Technical/Conversion components. The Finance module went live July 2, 2007 and has laid the ground work for improved financial controls. Plans for HR to go-live have been revised from December 9, 2007, to March 24, 2008. Student and Financial Aid are scheduled for phased in go-lives beginning February 2008. The Luminis Portal System is now scheduled to go-live in 2009.

Finance

As part of the College's efforts to strengthen controls for documenting expenditures, a new Concur expense reporting system has been purchased and will be implemented on January 1, 2008. The implementation is going well. End-user training for both Concur and LCC Card policy will take place during the next several weeks. Any LCC employee who has an LCC credit card or has occasion to seek personal reimbursement from the College should attend training. Trainings also will cover current expense-related policies, required documentation, and the supervisor's roles and responsibilities.

Human Resources

The second major milestone is to go live with the Human Resources/Payroll module. All go-live dates are contingent upon successful completion of such critical tasks as data conversion, testing, security safeguards, and reporting. The HR/payroll go-live was tentatively scheduled for December 9, 2007, but has been changed to March 24, 2008 because the HR Process Team reported that some of the critical tasks necessary for a successful launch had not yet met the quality standards. The reason is primarily due to competing priorities for critical staff and challenges in converting the Oracle data. The HR Process Team has worked hard and long over the past few months to overcome these challenges but needs more time to ensure the quality outcome that we all require.

Revising the HR/Payroll go-live date will:

  • Allow for adequate system testing, documentation and employee training.

  • Reduce the amount of manual dual entry that is required to maintain consistency between Oracle and Banner (HR and Student data).

  • Allow additional time to plan for balancing resource workloads over the next three months, addressing time entry and HR process changes, and developing necessary reports.

HR Time Entry End-User Training sessions are tentatively scheduled for February.

Student

The Student system implementation is proceeding according to schedule. However, admissions for Fall 2008 semester, which is scheduled to go-live February 4, 2008, may change due to the new go-live date for HR/Payroll. Additional SunGard data conversion resources have been assigned to assist the team in meeting its scheduled go-live date.

Financial Aid

Financial Aid is on schedule for Phase 1 go-live of March 10, 2008.
