Banner Implementation Update
The Banner Implementation project continues on schedule and is on budget. Personnel from across the campus representing all necessary stakeholders continue to give significant effort to the implementation as a whole.
The implementation's SunGard Project Manager is in the process of being re-staffed. A new Project Manager will be arriving on campus in the next few weeks to ensure continued progress of the implementation. This new person will finalize the integrated project plan which will determine the critical path for the project, with related milestones and contingencies.
Recently, leadership with the implementation received over 200 "Banner Performance Questionnaire" survey responses regarding the function expectations of the new Banner system. These survey results will be tabulated to help determine the metrics needed to analyze the system's success.
An update on each of the Process and Work Teams follows:
-
The Data Conversion Process Team along with the Student and Finance Work Teams has determined the General Person files and other requirements for the Finance system go-live.
-
The Data Standards Process Team finalized the first draft of the Data Standards document.
-
The Financial Aid Process Team has divided into several work groups. The work groups have determined the initial security roles, drafted a data conversion plan, and are working on business process analyses (BPA) and reporting needs.
-
The Human Resources Process Team is continuing to work on Business Process Analyses for key processes, reviewing security setups from Banner 5, and reviewing data fields in Oracle to determine which to convert for which purposes.
-
The Luminis Process Team had a successful Kickoff and documented the decisions that have already been made on issues of hardware and email integration.
-
The Student Process Team had a successful Kickoff and Overview. Decisions have been made regarding generating Student Numbers and academic term codes.
-
The Technical Process Team has started to address System Access and Security.
-
The Testing Methodologies Process Team has drafted a process for requesting, approving and granting system access, has begun development of a testing template and is working on the identification of key processes.
-
