LCC Selects Firm to Review Banner Implementation

A selection committee comprised of LCC administrators and trustees selected the firm of Grant Thornton to assist the LCC Office of Internal Audit with an audit review of the Banner Project implementation. The College received three responses to its request for proposals.

The objective of the audit is to ensure that implementation activities are aligned with the College's business needs and overall strategy as set forth in the LCC Banner Project Definition, the master plan for the project. By undertaking an audit midway through the project's implementation, the College will be able to identify and reduce any potential risk to a successful project completion. This type of review is highly recommended for project implementations of this size and scope.

Grant Thornton is a full-service public accounting firm and is represented by 521 offices in major financial centers in over 110 countries. Its Detroit office is a full-service office that has 18 partners and more than 175 professional staff. Grant Thornton is a member of the National Association of College & University Business Officers; EDUCAUSE, the association of information technology professionals in higher education; and of the Association of College and University Auditors, the association of internal audit professionals serving colleges and universities. It has performed this type of review for a large number of educational and non-educational clients.

Beginning the week of December 10, Alan Moore and G. John Schroeder of the firm's Southfield office will be on site periodically to review the Banner implementation process. They will conduct an initial assessment and provide ongoing monitoring through the end of the implementation. The reviewers will report to Hoa Nguyen, LCC's Executive Director of Compliance and Internal Control.
