LCC Cross Country Teams Set to Go to Nationals Saturday

LANSING 11/6/12 – Lansing Community College’s Women’s Cross Country team, which is ranked 3rd in the nation, and the Men’s Cross Country team, ranked 5th, will attend the National Junior College Athletic Association’s National Championship meet on November 10 at Rend Lake College in Ina, Illinois.

The teams typically rank in the top ten every year, and in 2007, the LCC Men’s team won the Division 1 National Championship. Rend Lake College was also the host that year.

The women start competing at 10 a.m. and the men at 11 a.m.  Over 40 teams from across the nation compete at the event.

LCC will take its top seven runners on both teams.

Women’s Cross Country National Championship participants are:

  • Taylor Knoll of Warren
  • Jaclyn Magness of Grand Ledge
  • Amy Stillman of Eaton Rapids
  • Brianna Wiles of Ionia
  • Viviana Alamillo of St. Johns

Men’s Cross Country National Championship participants are:

  • Brandon Beckman of Chesaning
  • Nick Ferris of Eaton Rapids
  • Chris Gantt of Dowagiac
  • Logan Lindsay of Charlotte
  • Joe Marrah of Lansing
  • Nicolas Moon of Dansville
  • Grant Webber of Otsego

Chuck Block has been head coach for cross country at LCC for 11 years. He has been named NJCAA Region XII Coach of the Year every year since 2001.  His assistant coach is Jim Robinson, who also serves as Pastor of Bethel Baptist Church.
