Mental Health & Aging Project

The Mental Health & Aging Project (MHAP), funded by the Michigan Department of Community Health, is a program unit at Lansing Community College. Since 1985, the project has offered education, training, and consultation for clinicians in Michigan's community mental health (CMH) system who provide services for older adults. The project also assists individuals in the aging network and other service systems who work with older adults with mental illness, dementia, and/or developmental disabilities in a wide variety of settings.

Regional Meeting: Developing Meaningful Connections with People with Dementia: A Training Manual, presented by Chris Curtin on Monday, November 30, 2009 at Lansing Community College West Campus.

GERO 191: Assisting Someone with Dementia: Improving Caregiver Interactions, presented by Shelly Weaverdyck on Friday, February 5, 2010 at Lansing Community College Main Campus.

GERO 191: Elder Abuse, presented by Susan Steinke on Friday, March 5, 2010 from 8AM-noon at Lansing Community College Main Campus.

GERO 191: Grief and Loss in the Later Years, presented by Christine Hennessey on Friday, March 5, 2010 from 1PM-5PM at Lansing Community College Main Campus.

The Seventh Annual Mental Health & Aging Conference will be held May 4-5, 2010 at the Kellogg Center on the campus of Michigan State University.
