i3D At LCC

LCC is currently creating a certificate program beginning with two new course offerings: Information Design, a course focusing on the fundamentals of two-dimensional informational design and Introduction to Simulated Reality using hardware and software from EON Reality, the technology that powers the i3D learning experience.

New Facilities

A presentation theater is currently under construction in the Gannon Building to display 3-D programming in an IMAX theater environment. This interactive learning center will consist of a nine-foot by 16-foot screen, seating for 65 students, a powerful sound system, and 3-D glasses will serve as the backdrop for group-learning experiences. A separate computer lab will be set up for more individualized, hands-on learning sequences for students in the application of i3D technology.

A New Medium for Learning

The new i3D learning experience serves as a gateway for students interested in pursuing careers in the emerging field of information design or as a 3-D simulation modeling technician.

For students enrolled in other programs or employer training opportunities at LCC, i3D technology will soon enhance what they learn and how they learn.

Training for the Future

i3D technology for employers will transform how workers gain knowledge. Imagine a police officer training on firearms and hostage negotiation in a simulated environment mirroring real-life experiences within the safety-net of immersive learning.

Examples of i3D training in healthcare, automotive industry, construction, and other fields are limitless. Practically any training need can be optimized in an i3D environment.

Simulation-based learning and training applications combine 3-D display systems with innovative and emerging technologies to expedite and contextualize learning.
