VISION STATEMENT

The Liberal Studies Division, recognizing that rapid change and interdependence are characteristics of our community and our world, will seek to provide students with the opportunity to participate actively in shaping the future.

Because we value knowledge, reasoning, intuitive skills, diversity, creativity and personal growth, and because we recognize the importance of the connection between a healthy mind, body and spirit, we will cultivate an environment which promotes interdisciplinary relationships, respect and compassion for others, a global perspective and academic proficiency in the arts and sciences.

We will foster cooperation, rather than competition, in order to assist the college and our departments in fulfilling their visions.

 MISSION STATEMENT

The Liberal Studies Division will offer courses and programs in the Arts and Sciences based on traditional and contemporary values, in a climate that fosters respect for learning. These offerings will impart knowledge, physical and mental skills which enable students to enrich their intellectual, professional and personal lives. The students will be equipped to compete successfully mentally, physically and emotionally in junior and senior level courses at other colleges and universities.
