Interlibrary Loan (ILL) Service
Use Interlibrary Loan to request items such as books and journal articles owned by other libraries when the item can't be found at the LCC Library or through the MeLCat Service (Michigan eLibrary Catalog).
Step 1: Before Placing a Request
- Search the Catalog to see if LCC already owns the item.
- Check MeLCat if your item is a book.
- Read the ILL Guidelines.
Step 2: Place a Request
Book Request | Journal Article Request
- Interlibrary Loan Service is available to current LCC students and employees, students of institutions who have contracted with LCC, LCC retirees, and LCC alumni association members.
- Students, retirees, alumni association members, and academic affiliate students may request up to 8 items at a time.
- Employees may request up to 12 items at a time.
Step 3: Receive Your Request
- Please allow up to 2 weeks for requests to arrive.
- Non-returnable items (journal articles and book chapters) will be automatically sent to your LCC email account.
- Returnable items (entire books, dissertations, government documents) must be picked up at the Checkout Desk (TLC 2nd floor). Students and employees at LCC East, West Campus, Livingston County Center, or Clinton County Center may receive items through the off campus delivery courier service.
- Items will be available for pick-up in the Library for 10 days after notification is sent.
- You must present a valid StarCard when picking up items.
Step 4: Return Items
- Off campus borrowers (LCC East, West Campus, Clinton County Center, Livingston Center) may return items through the courier service.
- On Campus borrowers (downtown campus) should return items in the book return drop box outside of the TLC Building or inside the Library.
