Link to Films on Demand

Create a Link to a Video | Embed a Video | Closed Captioning

Films on Demand provides educational videos on a variety subjects that can be viewed on your computer and embedded in faculty Angel accounts. Access to Films on Demand is also available on the Research Databases webpage.

Create a Link to a Video

It is easier to link to films to ANGEL if you have two windows or tabs open.

In the first window/tab:

  1. Go to Films on Demand from the LCC Library Research Databases web page.
  2. Locate an interesting film you want to link to your ANGEL course.
  3. Click on the title of the film.
  4. Locate the Title URL below the video player and the title synopsis.
  5. Copy the complete Title URL that begins with https://envoy.lcc.edu

In the second window/tab:

  1. Log into ANGEL.
  2. Go to Lessons tab.
  3. Click on Add Content and click on Page.
  4. At the Create an Item section click on Link.
  5. Add a title and subtitle, then paste film URL from Films on Demand.
  6. Click on Save.

Embed a Video

It is easier to embed films in ANGEL if you have two windows or two tabs open.

In the first window/tab:

  1. Go to Films on Demand from the LCC Library Research Databases web page.
  2. Locate an interesting film you want to embed in your ANGEL course.
  3. Click on the title of the film.
  4. Click on the link Embed this Video below the video player.
  5. Copy the complete code displayed

In the second window/tab:

  1. Log into ANGEL.
  2. Go to Lessons tab.
  3. Click on Add Content.
  4. At the  Create an Item section click on Page.
  5. Add a title and subtitle, then click on the Source icon Angel source icon and paste the code from Films on Demand.
  6. Click on Save.

Closed Captioning

Closed Captioning (Capital Cs) is available only through Windows Media Player. However, Flash (the Films on Demand default) has a captioning option as well.

Not all films have captioning. Some have captioning in Flash or Windows Media Player but not both.

Windows Media Player

To enable Closed Captioning, students must individually:

  1. Select Windows Media (located directly under film, it will currently read "Flash") and click on the Play icon.
  2. Once the film is running, right click on the film and select Zoom for Full Screen.
  3. Right click again and select Lyrics > Captions > Subtitles > Subtitles.

Flash (default player)

To enable captioning, students must individually:

  1. Click on the small word bubble located under the film, to the right of the full screen icon.

Off-Campus Access

Students can access to films from off-campus with their TUID and password.

https://envoy.lcc.edu/login?url=
is the code prefix which allows for off-campus access. It is automatically included in the URL when you link to a video and it is included in the new embed URL code.
